Not legal advice. This summarizes our research of the official rule, checked September 30, 2026. Rules change and may require more than what is listed here: confirm with the official text or with the agency (Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS)).
What the record must include
- The rule does not list specific fields for non-restricted products: it requires keeping pest control records, including contracts.
Also for restricted use pesticides (RUP)
- Product brand names
- Amounts
- Uses
- Dates of application
- Places of application
How long to keep it
2 years. Kept at the licensed business location (or the exact Florida address in the business license application). Electronic records must be provided to FDACS on request. Preventive termite treatments in new construction: 3 years.
What the customer gets
- We found no rule requiring a copy of the application record for general pest control customers.
- Registered pesticide-sensitive persons: notify them at least 24 hours before applying to a lawn, plant bed or exterior foliage within the area their physician designated, by phone, mail, in person or hand delivery, including the location and type of pesticide (F.S. 482.2267).
- Wood-destroying organisms under contract: give the owner a signed report after each inspection or treatment, stating whether WDO were present, whether treatment was made and the pesticide name (F.S. 482.226(3)).
Termites, fumigation and other cases
- Preventive termite treatment in new construction: record date, address, total square footage treated, pesticide, percent concentration and total volume applied; keep 3 years.
- Fumigation: also record the fumigant cylinder ID number and complete the Fumigation Log FDACS-13000 Rev. 03/26.
- WDO treatment: post a notice (at least 3 x 5 in) near the attic or crawl space access with the licensee's name and address, treatment date, pesticide and target organism.
Recent changes
Rule 5E-14.142 was amended effective May 18, 2026 (fumigation): new Fumigation Log Rev. 03/26, required information recorded no later than 1 working day after application (previously 2), and fumigation records delivered to FDACS within 3 business days when requested.
How PestSheet covers it in Florida
Before you complete a visit for a client in Florida, PestSheet checks that these fields are filled in:
- Target pest
If you apply a restricted use product (RUP), it also checks:
- Amount applied
- Areas or sites treated
Also:
- Reminds you to keep records at least 2 years.
- Export the records of any period as PDF or CSV for an inspection (Pro).
The client's name and address, the service date and start time, and the applicator's name are always recorded. The app uses the F.A.C. 5E-14.142 template. It doesn't check items the app doesn't record (for example active ingredients or equipment); those remain your responsibility.
What we could not confirm
- We could not confirm whether the 1-working-day recording deadline applies to all records or only to fumigation.
- We could not confirm the fields of the Fumigation Log form FDACS-13000.
- We could not confirm whether rules 5E-14.105 and 5E-14.106 changed in 2024-2026.
