Pesticide application records in Michigan

What Mich. Admin. Code R 285.636.15 asks for on each structural pest control record, how long to keep it and what the customer must get, based on our reading of the rule. And how PestSheet covers it.

What the record must include

  • Name and EPA registration number of the pesticide
  • Concentration of the pesticide applied
  • Amount of end-use dilution applied
  • Target pest, purpose or site
  • Date applied
  • Address or location of the application
  • Method and rate of application

How long to keep it

3 years for RUP; 1 year for general-use pesticides. Counted from the application.

What the customer gets

  • No later than each application (or electronically within 48 hours with prior written approval), give the customer written information: business name, address and phone; applicator's full name; target pest; pesticides with the common name of the active ingredient; time and date; and label warnings and re-entry restrictions.
  • At the first application, give a risk-and-benefit information sheet.

Termites, fumigation and other cases

  • A 48-hour sign is required in commercial, public or health care buildings after broadcast, foliar or space insecticide applications (not for ready-to-use general-use products).

It doesn't check items the app doesn't record (for example active ingredients or equipment); those remain your responsibility.
