Pesticide application records in Louisiana

What La. Admin. Code tit. 7, Pt. XXV, §117(H) asks for on each structural pest control record, how long to keep it and what the customer must get, based on our reading of the rule. And how PestSheet covers it.

Not legal advice. This summarizes our research of the official rule, checked October 1, 2026. Rules change and may require more than what is listed here: confirm with the official text or with the agency (Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF), Structural Pest Control Commission).

What the record must include

  • Place of business name, address and number
  • Primary licensee name, address and certification ID number
  • Customer name and address
  • Location of application
  • Product or brand name
  • EPA registration number
  • Whether the product is restricted or general use
  • Application date and time
  • Pest treated or type of application
  • Mixture concentration (percent)
  • Applicator and department ID number

Also for restricted use pesticides (RUP)

  • Total amount of RUP applied per location, per application
  • Size of the area treated with the RUP (square or linear feet)

How long to keep it

3 years. From the date of application for general pest control. Termite control and structural fumigation: 3 years after the contract expires. Must be made available to the department within 48 hours.

What the customer gets

  • Rule §117 does not require a copy or notice to the customer.

Termites, fumigation and other cases

  • Termite/WDI records add type of application, size of area treated, total amount of product, contract, inspection date and time, waiver and WDIR if applicable.

Recent changes

Amended June 2025 (LR 51:777): general pest record retention went from 2 to 3 years, and RUP amount and treated-area size were added.

How PestSheet covers it in Louisiana

Before you complete a visit for a client in Louisiana, PestSheet checks that these fields are filled in:

  • Applicator license or certification number
  • Business license number
  • EPA registration number
  • Target pest
  • Application method
  • Rate or dilution

If you apply a restricted use product (RUP), it also checks:

  • Amount applied
  • Size of the area treated

Also:

  • Reminds you to keep records at least 3 years.
  • Export the records of any period as PDF or CSV for an inspection (Pro).

The client's name and address, the service date and start time, and the applicator's name are always recorded. The app uses the La. Admin. Code tit. 7, Pt. XXV §117 template. It doesn't check items the app doesn't record (for example active ingredients or equipment); those remain your responsibility.

What we could not confirm

  • We could not confirm whether rules outside §117 require a prior notice or sensitive-person registry for structural work.
